About the Study

Pediatric Belt

Soterix Medical is partnering with the nonprofit Safe Toddles to develop a smart pediatric belt cane. The project will test the Smart Belt’s ability to collect motion tracking and use machine learning to assess mobility skills of toddlers who are blind or mobility visually impaired. Study participants will wear the Smart Belt while using the pediatric belt cane and provide a short video filmed during use.

All study participants will receive $50 and FREE pediatric belt cane. Request to join below.

How to Participate

  • Identify one or more child/children who are blind or mobility visually impaired. (ages 12-59 months)
  • Complete the participation form below.
  • Download, sign, and upload the consent form.
  • EITHER: You will be shipped a Smart Pediatric Belt Cane and curriculum.
    OR: If the child already uses a standard belt cane, you will be shipped a Smart Belt, after confirming belt/belt cane frame size.
  • Video child walking with the Smart Belt turned on for at least 30 seconds.
  • Ship back smart belt (postage & packaging will be provided) and send your video to info@safetoddles.org
  • Receive a standard belt and $50.
