The RK-20 is a portable focused ultrasound system that integrates into a standard stereotactic frame. A single-element focused ultrasound transducer can be positioned to deliver energy to precise brain regions using stereotactic localization. The system comes with an optional hydrophone and digital receive electronics to monitor acoustic emissions from the brain. A compact RF generator can be controlled from any standard computer via USB using a graphical software interface. Customized acoustic exposures can be delivered from the transducer including continuous waves, bursts, and gated bursts studies. The RK-20 is used world-wide for investigations ranging from tissue ablation to blood-brain barrier opening and neuromodulation.
Best-In-Class, Turnkey tFUS Solution
Premium all-in-one turnkey solution for rodent tFUS. Integrated stereotaxic frame, automated navigation, precise targeting via real-time acoustic feedback.
Portable and Scalable tFUS
A fully capable, and versatile platform with superb portability. An upgrade path to the RK-50 is available, ensuring the efficient use of funding.
The RK-20 features cross-platform software that communicates with the RF generator via a standard USB connection. Stimulation parameters can be customized to drive the ultrasound transducer, while simultaneously providing real-time monitoring of forward and reflected power. Quantitative acoustic experiments are facilitated by the automatic loading of pressure calibrations for each transducer, enabling data input in units such as peak pressure, mechanical index, and electrical power. The software also allows for switching between an internal and external trigger for timing the ultrasound delivery and external stimuli. In addition to the software application, python libraries to communicate with the RF generator are available for custom development.
